The 21st Annual Benedictine Charity Golf Tournament Raises $57,000 For Students and Adults at Benedictine School and
Open Community Program

Event Hosted 120 Golfers at Harbourtowne Golf Resort and Conference Center in St. Michaels, Md.

Ridgely, Md., October 28, 2009The Benedictine School, a nationally recognized, accredited and cost-effective educational living and learning environment for children and adults, hosted their 21st Annual Charity Golf Classic at Harbourtowne Golf Resort and Conference Center in St. Michaels, Md. The event raised over $57,000 to support the 180 children and adults with disabilities at the Benedictine School and Open Community Program.

“We are truly blessed and honored to gather year-after-year friends, families and sponsors for such a wonderful event that supports our good work,” said Sister Jeannette Murray, executive director for the past 47 years and a founding sister of The Benedictine School.

The golf tournament’s winning team consisted of Keith Berkey, Gerald Berkey, Karl Berkey and Karl Kibler. Hosting 120 golfers, each participant received a premium gift bag, brunch and dinner. Additionally, a benefit auction offered golf outings, restaurant certificates, a weekend stay in New York City and luxury suite tickets to a Redskins game.

“Our kids are our most important asset at Benedictine School and we rely on events like these to help our students thrive,” said Sister Jeannette. “Thanks again to all who make it possible.”

The event also included a 50/50 raffle, a drawing for a “Wheelbarrow of Cheer” and a chance to sink a 50’ putt for $10,000 in cash.  For these and many other reasons, the Benedictine Charity Golf Classic is one of the region’s premiere golf tournaments.
