Double the Donation: State Passes |
During the final days of their Legislative Session in Annapolis, the General Assembly approved a $500,000 Bond Bill for Benedictine Programs and Services to assist with critical renovations to its main campus in Ridgely, Maryland. The bill’s provision for matching funds is an opportunity to effectively bring $1,000,000 worth of improvements for the highly regarded school for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Sponsored by Delegates Norm Conway, Bennett Bozman, Rudolph Cane, Adelaide Eckardt, D. Page Elmore, Jeannie Haddaway, David Rudolph, Michael Smigiel, Richard Sossi, and Mary Roe Walkup in the House and Senator Richard Colburn in the Senate, funds from the Bill are to be matched with private contributions from individuals and businesses. The total of $1,000,000 will pay for needed improvements to Benedictine's Ridgely campus, including heating and cooling system renovations, replacement of major plumbing and fire protection systems, and comprehensive technology upgrades.
“The entire Benedictine family is extremely grateful for the State of Maryland’s support,” said Sister Jeannette. “At a time when there are many worthwhile causes in need of funds, our state has recognized the importance of a safe and efficient environment to educating and caring for our special kids. We still must call on our community to meet the bill’s matching requirements, and the State’s approval provides an inspirational boost to our efforts.”
Your contribution to Benedictine at this time will be doubled through this grant, providing twice as much support for Benedictine’s nationally recognized, pioneering approach to educating and caring for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
