Aquatics Services

Goal of Aquatics:
The goals of the Aquatics Program are to enhance the aquatics experience of the child while meeting their needs which may include the following:

  • Decrease fear of the water
  • Increase mobility
  • Provide a sensory experience to calm or excite the child
  • Improve basic swim skill development
  • Safe and effective pool entry/exit skills
  • Increase enjoyment of water activities

Aquatics Program:
These goals are achieved through individualized strategies that may include the following:

  • Shallow water wading
  • Therapeutic water activities prescribed by the Physical Therapist
  • Basic swimming strokes - American Crawl, Back Stroke, and Breast Stroke
  • Treading water
  • Life jacket skills
  • Use of a ring buoy
  • Survival skills without getting in the water
  • Water games

The program adapts to the children’s individual needs. Our School participates in the Special Olympics Aquatics Meet every year. The Aquatics Program provides a safe learning environment for students to enhance their Aquatic Skills.

Current Staff:
We have a full-time Aquatics instructor as well as a full-time lifeguard.
