Health Care Services

The goal of the Benedictine Health Care Services is to provide comprehensive health care to all students associated with the Benedictine Programs and Services.

Preventative:

  • Twenty-four hour evaluation of high-risk students
  • Annual flu vaccine
  • Annual physical
  • Current immunizations in health record
  • Weekly allergy shots and daily insulin administration
  • Assessment of complaints and awareness of safety issues
  • Evaluation of medication needs and changes

Routine:

  • Medication administration and documentation
  • Assessment of new medication with positive/negative effects
  • Care of the sick
  • First aid assessment and treatment
  • Ongoing nursing documentation
  • Weekly psychiatrist appointments
  • Written nursing plans for all IEP meetings and nursing participation impertinent medical needs of a student

Emergency:

  • Emergency room visits
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Suction therapy
  • Evaluation of injuries
  • Wound care
  • In-patient medical/psychiatric evaluation
