For a meaningful life.

For a meaningful life.

"I decided to go to Benedictine 'cause I felt it had more to offer: the job training, support and counseling. I love being here, and I'm going to have another great year. I hope to graduate next year and, you know, have a happy, healthy, productive life and continue my success."

Working! The Vocational Program

At Benedictine, we recognize the value of a meaningful and gratifying vocation. Working productively builds self-esteem and aids the growth of social skills. It promotes independence. With proper supervision and counseling, its positive impact on an adult with a developmental disability can make the difference between getting by day to day and truly living. Working with local employers, we place students in the community in part-time, well-supervised, competitive jobs, appropriate to their level of ability, where they begin to understand the world of employment. Benedictine's vocational education facilities provide an environment in which Benedictine students gain "real life" work experience in a variety of settings, including our on-campus Greenhouse, Laundromat, Mobile Cleaning Service, and Auto Service Station.

In addition, the Benedictine Industrial Training Center offers contractual services — Screen Printing, Embroidery, Commercial Printing and Color Copying, Graphic Design, Light Packaging Flower Arrangement, and Office Cleaning to the local business community. For more information about these services, please call 410-634-1912.
